His Legacy… John Louis Gwizdala, 89, passed away February 26, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan to Peter Gwizdala and Alveena (Schumsky) Gwizdala. John married his wife, Linda Loew, in 2007, in Reno, Nevada. He will be remembered as a professional, dedicated man. John began working as a Certified Public Accountant in 1960, and by choice he never retired. John said that “this job is never work,” and that he enjoyed his job so much that he had never worked a day in his life. After he had gained some experience, John created his own business, a legacy he wished to leave behind. John enjoyed cars, becoming a partial owner of multiple dealerships and lecturing on profits in the automotive industry.
Outside of his accounting work, John found ways to integrate his love for nature in his life. On his days off, he could be found hunting on his property, fishing up north, gardening, or relaxing at his cottage in East Tawas. For the past 40 years, he ran a U-Cut Christmas tree farm on his property. John’s passions extended far beyond his work. He was always very giving and generous to those around him. A dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, John achieved the honor of 4th Degree Knight. He was never worried or stressed, simply because he knew that everything would work out in the end. Most of all, John will be remembered for his incredible smile and always being happy.
His Family… John will be missed by his wife, Linda; his children, Annette Vasquez, Steven (Colleen) Gwizdala, Carolyn (Rich) Kramer-Trout, Linda (Phil) Abraham; siblings, Rose (Simon), Brenda (Jack), Elizabeth; grandchildren, Brett (Peggy), Jenny, Sara, Matt; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Alveena Gwizdala, and his siblings, Trudy, Fred, Peggy, and Bob.
